Scouts gained an understanding and appreciation of the founders of Scouting in the UP through hiking in their footsteps. Jim Beckman portrayed Perry Hatch, the founder of Scouting in the UP who became Scouting's Grand Old Man here. Jim shared his personal recollections of Perry and memorabilia from his extensive collections.
Jordan Smith related the story of Bart King was one of the original Scouts and then a leader. He served herocally in World War I where he died of pneumonia brought on by exhaustion.
